The Southern most tip of Africa is dominated by three towns. Arniston, Struisbaai and L’Agulhas. Southern Right Whales are abundant, particularly during mating season between May and December. The coast is also home to several old shipwrecks, including those of the Zoetendal, Birkenhead and Arniston.
Struisbaai is situated approximately 220km from Cape Town and forms part of the Overberg region. Struisbaai,offers a 14km uninterrupted white beach – the longest in Southern hemisphere. Enjoy walking, swimming, surfing, kite-surfing, angling, snorkelling, shell collecting, sunbathing or simply relaxing and taking in the amazing scenery.
Boat and rock-based angling, from the Struisbaai harbour and the Struisbaai plaat are very popular sports for local residents as well as holiday makers. Charter cruises for pleasure or fishing from the harbour are a popular sport, while freshly caught fish is often available at the quaint fishing harbour in Struisbaai.

Struisbaai and Agulhas has a very low crime rate, our children still play in the streets ride their bicycles,walk to the harbour and feel safe.
Further inland, the beach gives way to charming fishermen's cottages and fynbos-covered terrain, perfect for ostriches, cattle and merino sheep. Hiking and mountain biking are popular and guided 4x4 tours are available. There are must-see shell shops in the village of Struisbaai and the restored thatch-roof Anglican Church is a national monument and well worth a visit. The Aghulhas lighthouse is a popular attraction and is the second oldest working lighthouse in Southern Africa. |
